Comparing "Taming of the Shrew" to "50 First Dates"
Romantic love and love at first sight is said to be an unreal feeling, but in the play "The Taming of the Shrew" and the movie "50 First Dates." Katherine and Petruchio's love compares to the love that Henry had for Lucy, with both men falling for the women almost instantly.
In "Shrew," Petruchio tries his hardest to win Katherine over. He is determined to have her no matter what her attitude is or how she looks or makes him feel. "50 First Dates," the main character sets out to do the same- Henry Roth (Adam Sandler) tries his hardest to win Lucy Whitmore (Drew Barrymore) over even though she has memory problems and can't remember what day it is or even her own father's birthday.
Both the play and the movie are about men who fall mad in love with women and are determined to have them as their own. Like it or not, men will always fight for the one they love. They will always stay by their side and they will always do what they can to win the woman of their dreams.
"For I am he am born to tame you, Kate. And bring you from a wild Kate to a Kate conformable as other households Kates."
Nothing beats a first kiss.

Thy head, thy sovereign, one that cares for thee,
